Our Beach
Why We Only Use One Beach — And Why You'll Thank Us for It

Every "best beaches in Zanzibar" article gives you a list of seven or ten spots. We're going to do the opposite. We're going to tell you about one beach. The one we actually use. Every single time.
Bwejuu. Private beach at Zan Orient.
Our events happen on a private stretch of sand in Bwejuu, right next to the Zan Orient hotel on the southeast coast. It's not the most famous beach on the island. It's not the one you see in every travel blog. And that's exactly the point.
This beach is quiet. Genuinely quiet. No hawkers walking up to you mid-ceremony. No tourist groups posing for selfies in the background. No jet skis. Just white sand, coconut palms leaning over the water, and the Indian Ocean stretching out to the horizon.
Why privacy changes everything
When you're getting down on one knee, or walking barefoot toward a flower arch with the person you love — the last thing you want is an audience of strangers. We've seen it happen on popular beaches. The moment is beautiful, but there are twenty people watching, phones out, and suddenly it doesn't feel like yours anymore.
On our beach in Bwejuu, it's just you. Your partner. Our photographer hidden behind the palms. And the sound of the ocean. That's it. The intimacy isn't something we have to manufacture — it's built into the location.
The backdrop does the heavy lifting
Bwejuu has something most Zanzibar beaches don't: a natural wall of palm trees right behind the sand. When you look at photos from our events, you'll notice the background isn't just "ocean." It's layers — turquoise water, white sand, green palms, blue sky. No editing tricks needed. The scenery is already cinematic.
At golden hour, the light filters through the palms and paints everything warm. At sunrise, the ocean glows pink and orange. We know exactly where to place the arch, where the photographer should stand, and where the light will be at any given time — because we do this here every week.
We know every grain of sand
There's a practical reason we stick to one beach: we've mastered it. We know the tide schedule down to the minute. We know which spot stays dry even at high tide. We know where the wind is calmest, where the sand is firmest for a dinner table, and where the sunset hits the arch at the perfect angle.
When you work with a new beach every time, you're guessing. When you work with the same beach every week, you're executing. There's a big difference — and couples feel it. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is improvised. Everything is placed with intention.
What about the tides?
Bwejuu is on the east coast, which means the tides are more dramatic than on the north. Some people see that as a downside. We see it as a feature.
At low tide, the beach opens up into a massive, flat expanse of sand — perfect for a long walk, a dinner setup, or a drone shot that makes you look like you're on another planet. At high tide, the water comes right up to the palms, and the sound of the waves becomes part of the ceremony.
We plan every event around the tide. You don't have to think about it. We've already checked.
No random beaches. No surprises.
Some planners let you "choose your beach." That sounds nice, but it usually means they're figuring out logistics on the fly. Different permits, different access, different problems.
We chose Bwejuu because it gives our couples the best possible experience — private, beautiful, and stress-free. We have a relationship with the hotel. We have storage nearby. We have a backup plan for rain that's five minutes away. Everything is dialed in.
You don't need seven beach options. You need one perfect one. And we've found it.
Come see it for yourself
If you're planning a proposal, an elopement, a symbolic wedding, or a vow renewal in Zanzibar — this is where it happens. On a private beach in Bwejuu, under the palms, with the ocean as your witness. No crowds. No compromises. Just your moment, done right.
